About us

An association for a new generation of young Afghans in London

We are Afghan families and volunteers in London who want our young people to grow up with a good education, strong cultural roots and real confidence.

Our story

Why we started

The association was started by Afghan parents in London who want their children to thrive in Britain without losing their language, culture and values.

We believe every young Afghan deserves a place to make friends, learn and feel proud of who they are. We are starting with events that bring young people and families together: cultural celebrations, sport and gatherings. As the association grows, we plan to add more.

Our aims

What we work towards

These aims come from the constitution we have drawn up for the association.

  1. Advancing education

For the public benefit, including by celebrating cultural festivals.

  2. Recreation and leisure

Providing recreational and leisure activities in the interest of social welfare, to improve young people’s lives.

  3. Skills and capabilities

Support and activities that develop young people’s skills and capabilities, so they can take part in society as mature and responsible individuals.

How we are run

Run by volunteers, open and independent

We are run by volunteers and overseen by a board of trustees. Our constitution follows the Charity Commission’s ‘association’ model, so that members will have a real say in the big decisions.

We are preparing to register as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) with the Charity Commission.

We are an independent community organisation and are not affiliated with any official religious or community institution.
